Following the sad incident a week ago when the bus of the Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi Benue State caught fire, on their way back from a football game in Kwara State, the State Governor, Samuel Ortom lifted their spirits with a 36 seater Toyota Coaster bus.
The event took place at Aper Aku stadium, where the governor also pledged to continue supporting the club in its bid to become the best in the country. He also gave them a 10 million Naira cash donation to help replace any personal belongings they may have lost.
He charged the players and staff of the club not to be downcast because of the fire incident but to continue to do their best to make the state proud. He also expressed optimism that Lobi Stars will continue to grow and soon start to draw national and international stars to the club.
In his appreciation speech, the club chairman, Mr. Mike Idoko thanked the governor for coming to their aid. While the assistant captain of the club Daniel Atsaka also expressed his gratitude to the governor for his endless support and for being apt in getting them a bus.
