A 55 year old Iranian woman died of Coronavirus virus today, Saturday 7th March, after taking ill.
Reports say 55 year old Fatemeh Rahbar was a conservative Member of Parliament who hails from the capital Tehran. She was recently elected to the post and is the second lawmaker to die of the deadly viral infection in a country where authorities are battling to contain the epidemic.
The virus has spread very rapidly in the Middle East nation and has so far infected 4,747 people and killed at least 124.
Iran has closed schools and universities, suspended major cultural and sporting events and reduced working hours across the country to slow the contagion, which has spread to all of its 31 provinces.
The elections themselves that brought Rahbar to office witnessed very low turnout due to the Coronavirus epidemic
