Men of the Ogun State Police Division have discovered yet another baby factory in Mowe Area of Obafemi Owode Local Government, where many pregnant young girls were set free.
Activities of this baby making factory came to the fore when one of the inmates escaped and made her way to the police station in Mowe where she reported. On the 28th of February, 2020, the police raided the factory.
The lady who escaped mentioned one Ms. Florence Ogbonna as the operator. She said that Ogbonna lured her there where able bodied men ate often brought in to get them pregnant. She further said that the babies are always taken away from them as soon as they are delivered, to an unknown place.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, in a statement said the Divisional Police Officer, Mowe Division Marvis Jayeola mobilised his detectives to the scene where 12 ladies between the ages of 20 and 25 years were rescued with six amongst them heavily pregnant.
In a statement issued by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, policemen of the Mowe Police Division on getting to the facility, were able to rescue 12 women between ages 20-25, with 6 of them in the later stages of pregnancy.
The suspect’s: Florence and her accomplices
So far, Florence Ogbonna, Chibuke Akabueze(male) and Chibuzor Okafor (male) have been arrested in connection with the factory.
In a statement, the State Commissioner of Police Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered the suspects be transferred to the anti+ human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department(SCIID) for further investigation.
He equally directed that the victims be kept in safe and protective custody pending when they would be re-united with their families.
