Manchester City beat Aston Villa to retain the Carabao Cup, haven won the cup in two consecutive years before tonight’s third.
Goals from Aguero and Spaniard, Rodri were enough to repel a resilient Villa side who fought well but could only manage to score a goal through Samatta. All goals came in the first half, and all in the first 41 minutes.
Manchester City’s triumph puts them on course to achieving the feat Liverpool achieved between 1981-1984 when they won four consecutive League Cups. City are now one triumph short of equaling that record.
In the Premier League, City seat comfortably in second, with Leicester City in third, even though they are floundering at the moment. They are also very much alive in the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League, haven beaten Real Madrid in the first leg of the last 16 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Villa on the other hand are struggling for survival, haven lost 16 games this term. They sit 19th on the Premier League table, and they play Sheffield United next, while Manchester City take on Arsenal.
