Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak has died in Cairo, Egypt.
The octogenarian spent 3 decades in power before the Arab uprising swept him away.
He was subsequently found guilty of ordering the killing of protesters, who had demanded his resignation. The conviction was overturned on appeal and he was freed in March 2017.
The former strong man had battled series of health issues in the months preceeding his death. In January, he underwent a surgery and was said to be recovering according to a post made by his grandson on instagram.
