A medical doctor working with Federal Medical Centre Owerri had his nose, tongue, some of his upper teeth and part of his lower gums chopped off by his wife after a quarrel.

The doctor, Cherechi Okonko, has been admitted to the emergency unit of the Federal Medical Center, Owerri, Imo State where he is receiving treatment.
Reports say that the couple live in the Wolrd Bank areas of the state capital. After carrying out this dastardly assault, she called her husband’s mother and told her to come and get her son’s corpse, assuming he would not survive.

But Dr. Okonko, a gynaecologist, survived even though he was rushed into the hospital in an unconscious state.
Speaking on the incident, after newsmen sought for his word on the case, Orlando Ikeokwu, the State Public Relations officer said the case had not yet been reported by the police.
