President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the people of Benue State of his resolve to providing critical infrastructures and security to the state as part of his agenda of lifting over 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next ten years.
The President stated this over the weekend in Makurdi at the wedding ceremony of Prince Fanen Ayatse, son of the the paramount ruler of the Tiv Nation, His Royal Majesty, Professor James Ayatse,Tor Tiv V.
He also called for peace and unity in the state as true development can only take place where peace and stability suffices.
He promised that his second term is devoted to broadening the opportunities of poverty alleviation and provision of more federal government projects and infrastructures to Benue State.
The President added that the award of contract for the construction/dualization of the Abuja-Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi-Oturkpo – 9th Mile road project as well as the rehabilitation of the Makurdi-Gboko-Katsina/Ala road/bridges and that of Makurdi -Naka-Ankpa road in Kogi State are all part of his resolve to providing critical infrastructures to the people of Benue State in the North Central.
The President who was represented at the occasion by the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator(Dr) George Akume further stated that efforts are on-going by his government in intensifying and expanding the gains of the Social Investment Programme(SIP) in Benue State.
The President urged the newly wedded couple to allow the foundations of tolerance, submission and fear of God to be their guiding principles as husband and wife who have been connected by love.
The President prayed God to grant the couples long life, prosperity and a fruitful marriage of greater generations.
