The runaway Premier League leaders extended their unbeaten run to 25 games when they beat Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday night.
It was a battle of the top team versus the bottom team and for the best part, Norwich did their best to peg Liverpool back with a determined defensive display. Despite their superior possession, Liverpool was not able to make a breakthrough.
It took a returning Sadio Mane to break the deadlock on the 78th minute. The African footballer of the year who has spent some time off injured, came on as a substitute, replacing Alex Oxlade Chamberlain on the 60th minute and 18 minutes later, he sent the travelling Kop into 7th heaven when he calmly controlled Jordan Henderson’s teasing cross before slotting the ball ball past a hapless Tim Krul.
This win makes it their 17th in a roll and they now lead the log with 25 points clear of second place Manchester City, who have a game in hand. Liverpool now need only 5 more wins to end their long wait for the Premier League title.
Jurgen Klopp claimed before the game that the job was not yet done, but it is clear that it has already been done.
