President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his condolences to the National Assembly, government and people of Plateau State over demise of Sen. Ignatius Longjan, who represented Plateau South.
In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Alhaji Garba Shehu, the President commiserated with family, friends and political associates of the senator, who served the state as a deputy governor, 2011-2015, and had also served the country as a career diplomat for many years.
“President Buhari affirms that the senator had been steadfast, loyal and diligent in serving the country and his contributions to peace and stability in the state will always be remembered.
“The President prays that the Almighty God will grant the soul of the departed rest, and comfort his family and constituency.
In a related development, Sen. Gabriel Suswam of Benue North-East has condoled with the family of the Longjan and the the people of Plateau state over the death of his colleague, Sen. Ignatius Longjan.
Reacting to the news of the death of his colleague, Suswam wrote on his personal twitter handle, “I just received the shocking news of the demise of my colleague and friend, Sen. Ignatius Longjan.
“My heartfelt condolences to the Longjan family, the people of Plateau South Senatorial District, Plateau state.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen”
The Senator’s death was first heard from his colleagues who pleaded anonymity but said they saw the unfortunate news on senators Whatsapp group in the early hours of Monday.
